1. Which is great for the climate but I doubt that’s their primary motivation.

2. You would have to be crazy to give Russia that much soft power over your country, at this time.

3. A super-expensive pipeline needs many decades to pay for itself. Building it at a time when gas demand is peaking won’t be profitable, so the purpose would be political. But currently nobody wants to be associated with Russia, hence the project is dead.
