DW: “Freedom of expression is never a justification for antisemitism, hatred of Israel and denial of the Holocaust.”

So if I understand, you must love states even if they are declared apartheid states by mainstream human rights organizations like Amnesty and Human Rights Watch? You must love apartheid to stay employed?

  1. From Spiegel:

    From NZZ

    If you equate

    >**antisemitism,** hatred of Israel and **denial of the Holocaust**

    with

    >You must love apartheid to stay employed?

You don’t grasp at all what the issue at hand is. Like, not at all.

  2. Maybe because of this?

    > She was accused of comparing Israel to a cancer in an article written in 2014 and of wanting to join ISIL (ISIS) in an article published the following year. Both statements, written in an ironic tone, were taken out of context, she said.

And overall I find it a hard read. If you join the German state broadcaster you transport the German governments view on the world. And the Germans government view on Israel is complicated and full of conflicts. It is a complete minefield even in German media. What die she expect?

  3. It is absolutely right that they were fired, not a single euro of German tax money to anti-Semites.

  4. > You must love apartheid to stay employed?

Only if you want to work for the German government. DW is run by the German government.

Merkel said in her speech in the Knesset: “Here of all places I want to explicitly stress that every German Government and
every German Chancellor before me has shouldered Germany’s special historical
responsibility for Israel’s security. This historical responsibility is part of my
country’s raison d’être. For me as German Chancellor, therefore, Israel’s security
will never be open to negotiation.” https://www.knesset.gov.il/description/eng/doc/speech_merkel_2008_eng.pdf

She said in an interview: “We’ll never be neutral and Israel can be sure of our support when it comes to ensuring its security. That’s why I also said that Germany’s support for Israel’s security is part of our national ethos” https://www.timesofisrael.com/germany-can-never-be-neutral-on-israel-merkel-says/

If you do not support the views of the German government, do not work for the German government. If you do not want to see the views of the German government, do not watch DW.
