  1. “This emerging “Atlantic Niña” pattern comes just ahead of an expected transition to a cooler La Niña in the Pacific Ocean”

This is coming right after a season of record highs. Global warming is showing more violent swings in weather patterns

  2. Could melting ice caps after a period of extreme heat explain it? Though I doubt that would happen this fast.

  3. Scientists are not “puzzled.” They are not “baffled,” or “mystified.” They don’t scream, “Ureka!” And run down the road.

No, scientists are curious. And their quiet exclamation of, “Huh. That’s weird.” Is the first step that leads them to a new discovery.

They would love to have a major field of science be “Overturned.” Because that would mean new areas of exploration and new funding. It would mean a Nobel Prize.

Most scientific discoveries are in small areas that are not yet well explored.

In climate change, they have decades of experiments. If the water if the Atlantic is cooling, they will already have a fair understanding of how it is possible.

  4. We just had 11 months of fall in The Netherlands (no real winter).

One month of summerish weather and now it’s raining hard again.
