Hey I wanted to know whats your opinion about the new Airport building, isnt this a little over exaggerated, I mean why all buildings need to be in the same boring modern style, its so big you probably could fit all Luxembourgish people in there lol!

  1. I don’t think so, but probably someone will explain…

  2. That’s a new office building. Sky Park, if I am correct.
It is not part of the Terminal itself, but for sure the existing terminal needs a refurbishment/extension to accommodate better and properly the passengers.

  3. It’s extremely convenient and a good idea to have a business park at the airport. It makes in person meetings easier for satellite offices, it gives a better airport hotel and that’s directly at the airport (not that the other one is so far), and it will be pretty well connected by public transport next year. Also it will give you some place to get food if you arrive way too early for a flight, or if you want to grab something to eat immediately after landing without having to go to town. Right now there’s a Starbucks and that’s literally the only thing outside the terminal.

The airport needs more jetties directly connected to planes – the buses suck – but hopefully they’ll get on that at some point.

  4. I worked on the Skypark for some time.

There was a big international contest for the building.

The skypark is not directly part of the airport, more of a sidekick. It’s mostly office spaces with an hotel and kindergarden. There will also be shopping and some restaurants.

The main idea is to offer office spaces for companies as close to the airside as possible, so your big ceo guy can come in, hold a meeting and leave in 2 hours.

Also some governmental agencies that are around the airport so they can have a view on the landing directly from the offices.

Theres still work to do, especially the outside part, the tram will stop where those busses are at the moment, there will be a lot more green around too. By the end it won’t be that bad.

  5. The airport definitely needs to be extended. Have you seen security and scanners when checking in?
Edit: it’s unfortunate that the new building is not actually extending the airport. Don’t forget that it caters to all Grand Region residents, not only the Lux ones. Many come from Trier or Thionville, especially during summer.

  6. It‘s not part of the airport infrastructure even tho a couple of airport activities will be located inside
