Turns out that I’ve been walking past the old Embassy of the Republic of Texas for a few years now.
Tucked away down a little alley way in St James’s (Pickering Place) is a plaque to the old Texas Legation (Embassy) – set up by the Republic, alongside one in Paris.
Fascinating stuff that I thought was worth sharing with y’all.

Cool! I’ll look for it!
Heh. There’s a building further along, 1 Cockspur St, which used to make the same claim when it used to have a pretty solid Tex-Mex restaurant called the Texas Embassy Cantina from 1995 to 2012.
It’s famous as only ever been painted, never stripped back and painted. The paint layer is 2” thick of something.
You’ll notice it when you look. The walls are all warped and undulating due to the paint thickness.
Why commie star?
Allegedly the place of the last pistol duel in London in the small(est) square there as well.
Last trip to London, I packed a Shiner to drink there.
