15. I had a conversation yesterday with a woman who fled Ukraine. Ofcourse she hates the war, ofcourse she is sad, ofcourse she is angry, ofcourse she fears for the lives of her family and friends who are still there.
    What I did not expect her to say was: Ukraine is a horrible country towards it's own citizens, even before the war started. She told me there is so much poverty and blatant corruption (she told me for example that if you have money, you can buy educational degrees without even studying; that care homes for elderly aren't actual care homes, but death prisons where the elderly are locked up and no good care is provided, because the "care homes" try to extort money from the families and if the money doesn't come, no care is provided). She told me that how the media are portraying the country since the war started, is so far from the truth, as if it's a country where the government cares about it's citizens. Zelensky is being portrayed as a savior now, when in reality he is part of the corruption. She asked: did the media care about that? Did Europe and the US care about that? Where were they then?
    No. They started caring when Russia invaded, as that is what Europe and the US care about.
    I know people are going to attack me as being a Russian troll for sharing this. If you do, you are actually saying that she as a refugee is a Russian troll.
    People: if you know somebody from Ukraine, have a conversation about Ukraine. It's not as simple as "Russia bad, Ukraine good".
    Ofcourse the Russian government is a dictatorship and is cruel, corrupt, a huge danger.
    The point she was making, was that she is angry that the world still doesn't know what really happens in Ukraine as propaganda against Russia is more important.
