  1. For me: Ben Mendy, hype, expectation, huge transfer fee. Constantly injured, defended like a donkey when he did play, and off-field issues to boot.

  2. My non-Mendy votes are either Jo or Tal Ben Haim.

    Jo because we spent a club record fee on him to do fuck all (and also because I saw him play in a pre-Olympic friendly for Brazil, score, and therefore get my hopes up way too high).

    And Tal Ben Haim because even though he cost £1M less than Vincent Kompany, he was about 1 million percent less skilled. He played 9 league games for us and was absolutely dreadful in every single one. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player be a 2/10 in literally every match they played for us. Mangala had his good games. Bony once had a passable game. Jo once scored in a 6-0 rout of Portsmouth. Even Mendy was outstanding before he crocked his knee. But this guy was the worst player on the pitch every. single. time.

  18. Danny Allsopp. It was a big deal in Australia when he signed, but he couldn’t cope with Div 2 standard. I still love him though for his exploits with my local football team Melbourne Victory.
