A lovely new addition to the road behind my house.

  1. Is that part of government energy grant?

Edit to add in Australia you can put stuff like this out for kerbside collection but you have to separate the door from fridge so critters or kids don’t shut themselves.

  2. The craziest part is. Emectrical companies are obliged by eu law to take back fridges for free.

    Edit. Spelling

  3. I feel like since the pandemic fly tipping* has gotten even worse. It seems less and less people pay for bins and just drive out to the nearest country road and dump it.

*I hate the term fly tipping makes it sound so innocent and sweet. Fuckers

  4. I just feel bad for the grass underneath. And coming into Spring and everything, what could have been.. 😢

  5. I don’t fly tip however if I did, I would take the unique stickers off my fridge first…some people have surely seen that fridge before and will know which house it came from.

  6. The ‘return centre’ will take the fridge and all other Domestic products but they go down to the level of checking even the computer monitors to see if they were retail or commercial devices.

If they were commercial devices (example: you were given a monitor from your company to take home) they won’t accept it.

This is against the spirit of the whole concept of recycling.

  7. Saw some scum earlier this week during daylight waiting for me( on foot) to pass their parked car, once I was a bit further I saw this asshat running towards the side of the house to put all their rubbish there.

The other guy was the lookout and noticed I looked back… Just took my phone to pretend to call the garda ( since in reality they wouldn’t show up, at best hours later).

At least when I passed the spot later that day I didn’t see their thrash… knowing full well that scum just went to a different location.

  8. Dirty scumbags, it would be great to prosecute them but I don’t think these selfish pricks are ever caught.

Unfortunately this is the direct consequence of privatising waste collection.

  9. Doors left on = death trap for kids.

The selfishness of some people goes beyond comprehension… just dump your trash somewhere and forget about it, like it magically has vanished?! I mean, WTF?!

  10. It’s free to get rid of these (and other WEEE electrical items). If your local recycling centre has a pay barrier, you just use the intercom or whatever to tell them it’s just WEEE stuff you’re dropping in and they let you in for free.

Also, our town has a Harvey Norman warehouse, and they have an area where people just drop WEEE stuff off. You don’t need to make a purchase. All electrical retailers are obligated to take your old WEEE stuff, free of charge, for disposal.

  11. Looks cozy, happen to have an Eircode for it? I’ve been looking to rent and there’s few places on the market.
