How condoned is this behavior by the senator? Does it not affect the feelings of Romanians and Orthodox Christians?

  1. I have no idea who any of these people are or what they’re doing which is exactly the sort behaviour I condone. We clearly need more of whatever this is.

  2. Opinion Article but no opinion nor article provided.
Repulsion is the feeling generated in her home country.
And she spreads repulsion through misbehavior, lack of morals and Christinopathy (i guess it’s the term)
Should it affect my orthodox feelings that a senator that spreads and represents (heh!) Christian beliefs is silenced?
    No. Not at all.
If you want to spread a belief you can do in many ways but what she does.
She does scandal and noise. That’s all there is to her and her audience. Because no orthodox Christian with morals does what she does.
She does not represent an Orthodox audience, rather a low-IQ, probably old audience suffering from the Duning-Kruegen syndrome, who just want to be heard but are unable to come with solutions.
This audience comes with Orthodox beliefs yet their beliefs are very … questionable.
The kind of beliefs where fasting is holy, but seeping out beggars out of church is normal.
The kind of beliefs where social issues are matter of the state, not the church.
The kind of beliefs where the church is a saint rather than a Philanthropic Organization.
A minority influenced by what a priest says rather an expert in a certain domain.
No, the Senator does not represent me, an Orthodox, and the Council did good for silencing her, should keep silencing this bully and it’s what we should’ve done at home, but people want bread and circus … in the parliament … to distract from the pressing issues.

  3. [https://web.de/magazine/politik/provokation-maulkorb-rumaenin-eu-parlament-geworfen-39904210](https://web.de/magazine/politik/provokation-maulkorb-rumaenin-eu-parlament-geworfen-39904210)

    >A politician in the EU Parliament tries to make herself heard with a muzzle and a picture of Jesus and is thrown out. A single usher was not nearly enough to escort her out.

    >Scandal in the European Parliament shortly before the vote on a second term for EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen: Parliament President Roberta Metsola had the right-wing extremist Romanian MEP Diana Iovanovici Sosoaca thrown out of the plenary session because of repeated disruptive shouts.

    >Sosoaca was surrounded by up to eight ushers who tried to convince her to follow the President’s instructions. With an annoyed undertone, Metsola asked the MEP: “How many colleagues have to come to escort you out of the room?” After a verbal argument, she finally left the room.

  4. There was a post about you not being ready about Sosoaca, you kept telling us that you have your insane politicians in your country and that you are prepared. Mfs you are not ready for Sosaca, nobody is ready for her.

Yes, she is considered to be a lunatic by a lot of Romanians, though she has her lunatic followers and voters, that’s why she is in the Parliament. However, showing an Orthodox icon and “predicting” about religion or wtf she said, is not some blasphemy.

  5. As per wikipedia: Incitatus was the favourite horse of Roman Emperor Caligula. According to legend, Caligula planned to **make the hourse a consul** , (…although ancient sources are clear that this did not occur …)

Everything has already happened. This is merely 2024 reincarnation of the horse.

  6. Orthodox Church spokesman said:

[Vasile Bănescu (Romanian Orthodox Church Spokesman) after the “show” put on by MEP Diana Șoșoaca: An icon does not do politics, does not protest, does not validate wars](https://www.digi24.ro/stiri/actualitate/vasile-banescu-dupa-show-ul-facut-de-europarlamentara-diana-sosoaca-icoana-nu-face-politica-nu-protesteaza-nu-valideaza-razboaie-2865363)

The article is in Romanian language.

LATE EDIT: A bit from what the Romanian Orthodox Church said:

    > It is the visual space, diaphanous, suspended between heaven and earth, of dialogue in prayer, a profoundly civilizing act, **not a barbaric demolition. The icon always bears within it a silent, humble face, not decayed by hatred and hard to look at**. The icon is not political, it does not protest, it does not validate wars, it does not expect insults. It only invites you silently to moral anamnesis, to ***discreet*** repentance, to gathering your thoughts from the waste, to sharing them with the gentle face that looks at you intensely from beyond the frontier of this life, hoping that you will understand that not everything is vanity.

As a Protestant I think this is a great answer. In a way I start to respect the Orthodox Church in my country because of its spokesperson more than because of its priests.

  7. Don’t worry pal, it’s gonna get even worse with her!

  8. Romanian here, she is the clown of the Romanian political scene. I think she is crazy, but at least part of her behaviour is an act. She is also an openly pro-Russian politician, walking the thin line between the law and treason. Call yourself lucky for not speaking Romanian because this idiot makes Trump sound like a sane, reasonable politician.

There are a lot of Romanians with religious/conservative beliefs (mostly older people and functionally iliterates), these people are also the prime target of misinformation on the social media/TV. These are the people that speak with nostalgia about communism and blame NATO / EU for everything. For them, the West is trying to destroy Christianity and force gayness and depravity upon them (whatever that means).

Every Romanian party has politicians to cater to the religious people of Romania, but some parties have more than others. The corruption within the Orthodox Church makes it an useful tool in manipulating the most religious and naive followers. Some politicians make the most of that, especially the SOS, AUR, PSD and PNL parties. The Romanian Orthodox Church receives a lot of money from the government and lacks any sort of transparency and accountability in spending that money.

  9. She is a moron…and uneducated…full of hate…war monger…Putin supporter…russian troll.

this person is a disgrace to Romania and her people.

  10. So, in Greece (Orthodox country), we have our fair share of religious nutjobs in the political life.

Coming from a strong religious family myself and having a social circle of religious families as well, I can tell you that the majority of them do find those nutjobs as nutjobs. But they do not have any strong feelings against them exactly because it is a common occurance. Maybe something in-between making fun of them and being (mildly) pissed for making a mockery of their religion.

  11. Isn’t that the Romanian Politican. That has nothing to her but is only trying to get attention by doing some stupid shit?

  12. I’m just glad the lads from the Orchestra put down their instruments to escort her out.

  13. She’s playing a role this c*nt. Unfortunately 5% of us ( romanians ) voted for this animal. She represents a certain class: jerks, lout & uneducated.

It is know that she’s paid by the russians to destabilize our country.

    We apologize for this.

  14. Can the UE really accept that kind of people? Or even those a little less worse but having the same thinking?

  15. When the Western Press puts a spotlight on fringe politicians and acts like it represents the country they come from, this is the result. It’s quite disgraceful and creates bigotry (not blaming you but the people who put out this smut).

  16. The consensus in Romania is that she is completely bunkers and that Bruxelles is the best place for her.

  17. I love how confident this woman is with her gag fetish.

  18. She is extremely unpleasant, but her party split up the extreme right in 2 so now there is 0 chance either part gets to be president. So may be a benefit in the long term, even if she humiliates us on the world stage.

  19. Circus Maximus is what this is!

It affects my feelings as a human being.

    This woman is absolutely insane.

  20. I keep seeing around here people saying that she’s being paid by the russians to do stuff like this.

This is most likely not true. The reality might be a lot more hilarious than that.

Her (ex?)husband criticized her in a tik tok that other politicians that do crap like this are at least being paid by Moscow, but they don’t receive a single ruble, and urged her to at least *try* and get money from the russian embasy.
