Full tank of slurry dumped into a stream that flows through the beach and into the ocean.

  1. To be fair are you sure he was dumping slurry or was he loading water?

If he was dumping slurry that’s fcuking ridiculous.

  2. I said it in another thread, they are custodians of the land, waterways dont count

  3. Anything other than crippling fines and maybe a few months in the slammer for this dipshit would be a slap on the wrist

  4. Fake news, he’s loading water. If he was dumping slurry as you say where’s that picture or video? What a loser!

  5. Should try and get a video next time, get close also.

  6. As someone who loves to fish this is devastating, shocking display of ignorance and couldn’t give a fuckism on display. Should be hit with crippling fines and jail time.

  7. Irish Farmers association will report this post as a hatecrime

  8. I highly doubt it as slurry is valuable this time of year. Most likely getting a load of water to thin it out.

  9. Have seen farmers do this in rivers, lakes, and the sea.. they seem to do it alot in the sea, the sea is defo the big one in my experience.. maybe that’s the easiest one to get away with.. I dunno, it’s shocking anyway to do it anywhere. Makes you afraid to swim in our waters and has such a terrible impact on fish amd creatures in the water and wildlife along the banks. The dumping and runoff from agriculture into the waterways in Ireland is so disheartening for so many reasons and is a serious issue that gets ignored. Farmers dumping slurry is a disgrace.. and leaving their silage wrap and tyres and other machinery/tools/farm waste around the countryside in ditches and other places is also a big problem. Keepers and custodians of the land my hole.

  10. Are we certain thats whats happening here? Are we sure hes not simply sucking water out of the stream. Because that would make 1000 times more sense, than a farmer driving out to a remote location to dump a load of slurry into a waterway in public view for no reason. Maybe he just hates fish or something. idk.

  11. They’re subcontracted by the county council to empty the storage tanks.

  12. More likely he is sucking up a load of water you clown but sure you jump to assumptions like all ignorant people do

  13. Would love to know if this guy receives any grants? If or how much has my taxpayer potentially funded this .

  14. If like OP said it’s a stream, he was more than likely FILLING the tank with water to empty into the slurry tank to aid with agitation of possibly a crusty or thick mix of slurry.

  15. As a farmer I’d say report them immediately if that’s what you are 100% sure is happening.

    But a couple of things.

it’s August tanks are far from full so there’s no rational reason for a farmer to dump slurry (not that they ever should but I’ll call a spade a spade and admit some do but normally that’s only going to happen in winter when tanks are full and lads are desperate)

  16. Animal-ag is the leading cause of river pollution and temporary ocean dead zones and that is ONLY what we document and have seen, mostly through eutrophication. So imagine how bad it really is if you’re seeing this pic above.

It NEVER gets reported in the news, ever, yet its the leading cause…..

I am surrounded by sheep and dairy cows in a national park (I’m in Wales) and they have slurried every field to one side of the village yesterday and today. These fields go to the edge of the cliffs and then the ocean is just below.

The weather forecast for tomorrow is rain…….

It will wash off straight in to the ocean, i’ll take pics of it and videos like I usually do but for what?

Even if it wasn’t going to rain, the nutrients eventually seep deep enough down that when it does rain they eventually get in to the ocean anyway, i have pics and videos of it seeping out of the cliffs in to the blue ocean.

    David Attenborough said it best:

“if we shift away from eating meat and dairy and move towards a plant based diet then the suns energy goes directly in to growing our food.

and because that is so much more efficient we could still produce enough to feed us, but do so using just a quarter of the land.

This could free up the area the size of the united states, china, EU and australia combined.

space that could be given back to nature.”

  17. The farmers I’ve known have always been sound and environmentally conscious but holy fuck farmers do some of the most stupid shit
