Watching it here its a savage sport. Elite fitness required.
Winter Olympics is actually better. I never really used to watch it, but it kicks the shit out of the defrosted Olympics.
I feel a sequel to Cool Runnings is imminent
Honestly one of the most gruelling events I could think of in both Olympics
Does anyone know if he’s in with a chance of a medal? I don’t think we’ve ever won a winter Olympics medal
Ha ha. I was chuffed that for once he was shown leaving the starting gate & even more when at a split near end of circuit his was for a bit the time later skiers were being measured against. Had never got to see him cross the finish before, either. Nice to see an unexpected bit of green.
To another poster: No. No, he’s no hope of winning a medal. But he gets very respectable results much of the time–more than respectable when you remember he’s not got the masses of waxers, masseurs, coaches, etc. that larger teams have.
Edit: He ended up 14th overall. This is a brilliant result.
MALONEY WESTGAARD
That’s mad, I’m only just after realising that I fucking love cross country skiing!

Watched the snowboarding half pipe here in Canada the other night. I was watching out for Seamus O’Connor, from California but competing for Ireland.
Thought something was wrong when I started to see some guys on their second run, no sign of Seamus.
Turns out that both of his runs had coincided with ad breaks, and the commentators and coverage made no mention of him!
Finished 14th, quite respectable, only two spots early away from a final.
