Tonight, during the fourth and final night of the Democratic National Convention, VP Harris formally accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for US president. This comes just a month after President Biden, the previous presumptive nominee, dropped out of the race and threw his support behind Harris, rallying the rest of the party behind her such that over 99% of committed delegates heading into the convention were pledged to Harris.

  1. I’m so excited to be voting FOR her. Not just against that other guy. She’s a real human, with a story, and her own inspirations. I’m tearing up, because some of her story has actually really, really spoken to me.

  2. Holy shit. I can follow her. She’s making sense. What’s this logical rational speech?

  3. Her speech has been fantastic so far, and her acceptance was just incredible. There is energy around the democratic nominee that I haven’t seen since 2008 and 2012.

  4. Trumps still waiting for Biden to paraglide in and take the nomination

  5. She’s growing more confident by the second. Good on her for rising to the moment.

  6. Just 74 days. Let that soak in. But we can’t let up, not one day, not one minute. 74 days of your life. I am ALL in because Harris and Walz are the future, where *everyone* has a seat the table, a future based on hope not fear.

  7. Everyone get ready. After tonight, the Republicans are going to stop trying to win this election by getting the most votes. They know that’s cooked now.

The ratfuckery is about to begin, and it’s already started in Georgia.

  8. Where was this Kamala Harris in the 2020 primary? She really benefited from 4 years of mentorship under Biden, preparing for this moment. And she is so damn ready for it.

Thank you Joe for stepping aside for our democracy and thank you Kamala for being ready to make this moment and showing that would-be authoritarian that we will not go back.

  9. This is the most fucking honest fire speech I’ve ever seen a presidential candidate or president give ever

  10. “None of us has to fail for any of us to succeed”

    fire

  11. Before Biden dropped out, I didn’t think she would do well. I was INSANELY incorrect. That’s why I’m a doofus.

  12. Trump bragging about having the respect from the leaders of North Korea, Russia, and China isn’t the flex he thinks it is.

I’m glad Kamala is calling him out.

  13. Said it in the other thread, but take a moment to compare how you feel right now and how you felt after the debate. Truly incredible.

  14. Something that was really cool about that speech was how I was able to understand exactly what she was saying the entire time.

  15. Holy shit that was amazing. She hit all of the points I can think of. She didn’t fucking flinch at all. She looked happy and joyous and serious and strong at all of the right times. An unbelievably good speech. I am fucking PUMPED for the debate.

  16. I can’t believe I watched every night with my boomer republican parents.

It was amazing. I laughed, I cried. I felt hope for the first time in a long time

    Harris/Walz 2024!!!!

Edit: for the record my parents are also voting for Harris

  17. I did not know she had that in her and I’m fucking fired up.

(Yes, yes, vote, vote, vote, I will.)

  18. I can’t believe we’re on the cusp of having normal, relatable, intelligent, hard working and fairly younger leaders running the country again.

  19. Watching from Australia amazing speech. Godspeed Kamala and Tim

  20. It’s insane to be sitting here watching the next president of the United States wave from the stage as Kendrick Lamar raps over red white and blue balloons. Goddamn, I love America.

  21. One side is acting like it’s 2024. The other side is acting like it’s 1865.

  22. Harris gave a fantastic speech. I haven’t seen the Democrats this energized and hopeful since 2008.

  23. I wasn’t sure if she was going to live up to all this crazy hype, but god damn, she nailed that speech.

  24. For the first time in my adult life I’m not only voting democrat out of necessity, but I’m fucking proud to say I’m a democrat.

  25. My favorite line: “I started every trial with the same 5 words – Kamala Harris For The People”.

  26. You guys.

I am moving from Illinois to Wisconsin due to a job change. It’s a move of literally 25 miles – but my vote in November will MATTER. I am going to find the local democrat office and find out what it takes to get registered and how quickly I can get it done.

It was a matter or TWO VOTES PER DISTRICT in 2020 in Wisconsin! Let’s. Go.
