Anyone who got the vaccine or booster just to be able to keep going to the gym, or to restaurants, is probably pissed off at the moment.
Those peer-reviewed studies sure change fast.
Maltese politicians seem to have made their policy decisions for the purposes of manipulating as many people as possible into getting the vaccine and little else. Anyone who is willing to get the booster has got it, so now they don’t need to bother with the proverbial stick that these rules were. A slap in the face to those who “took one for the team” and got the booster, even if they were only recently vaccinated or sick.
The timing also fits with the bringing in and removal of the outdoor mask policy. Masks outdoors make practically zero difference to transmission, but bringing that rule in allowed its removal to act as a carrot.
Now that the carrot and stick have done all they can for booster uptake, they can just not bother anymore.
