  1. I’d say more is owed to Richard Donner who took Superman more seriously as a character than even the producers did. I read that Feige says the Marvel formula owes a lot to Superman or is based on it.

  2. What this translates to me is: “New movie coming out soon.” 

     No shit the modern superhero landscape wouldn’t exist like it currently is without Batman ‘89: It’d be an entirely different entity.

  3. Back in 89 my friend and I eagerly awaited the release of Tim Burton’s Batman. We were so excited and this was amplified when we saw that a few days before the release there was a special afternoon showing of the movie at our local Odeon. A preview!? We got our tickets and sat down. We wondered why the cinema was a small screen and mostly empty. Then the opening scene… Wait a minute, why is Adam West running around in a leotard holding a bomb and trying to save a group of nuns while Burt Ward pretends to climb a building sideways?

    The disappointment was palpable.
