Not sure what the point of this post is other than some internet whinging, but this new hotel is being built very close to my house and the horribly mismatched elements of it honestly make me angry on a daily basis. How do buildings like this even get designed, let alone approved? And how can I stop myself becoming tangibly irritated looking at it everyday?

Still better than the one next to it!
Some call this progress.
Design a better one yourself, see if someone wants your boring ass block of cement
Money.
Why not at this point?
And that’s why the Maltese people have no time to complain about how their elected politicians are robbing them of their future and present
I used to be proud that I come from Malta when I was young but not anymore. I am one of many that managed to escape and every time I cisit back home, I realise that I truly made a good decision
हा हा! मैंने वह दूसरे दिन देखा!
only thing you can do is to burn it. with that illegaly parked car. will you?
that building on the left too. ugly af.
I think the balconies were designed to imitate waves breaking. Blue painted buildings don’t age very well unfortunately especially if they don’t maintain the painting of the facade.
That’s how I feel every time I walk to school in Gozo with the primary building right next to the road. The number of times I had to squeeze through just to walk past it is disgusting.
Makes my mood sink even before I enter in my classroom… in fact, scratch that it makes me feel worse than entering a lesson.
And with it being in the centre of Rabat it’s all the more mood grounding. 😩🫠
And yet, still nicer than 95% of the newly built properties…
Honestly I’ve seen worse-
Jaqq, awn fejn bhala location?
I sincerely don’t understand the problem. This looks pretty nice? To me at least? Provided they keep up the maintenance
It’s nicer than the property next door, that’s for sure
To make things worse, that hotel is corner with a UCA. The narrow side street has UCA on one side whilst the side the hotel is on is not (major planning flop).
Imagine having a two-floor townhouse, all preserved, renovated and all that, and you open your front door only to see this 7-floor monstrosity which design does NOT respect its surroundings, as required for a planning permit.
because the building authority stopped giving a fuck about things matching like 7 years ago or something.
Now you can build whatever the fuck you like, long as you have enough money.
Though personally I like the look more compared to all the other decrepit buildings in bugibba.
The property is nice, then the adjacent building looks like a ghetto. Then the pavement is poorly done with cement, with piss stain electrical poles and wires dangling everywhere. Infrastructure design in Malta is Sub Zero. The government is corrupt from the core appointing people not on the merit of qualifications or experience but to buy his vote even he stays home.
If you zoom in on the dark blue paint it looks as if it’s about to crack and fall off?!
I am not an architect nor an expert of modern buildings. But I would say there is some kind of relation between those lines and the sea and/or sand.
Are you pissed of because of disparity? Are you a building racist or something? 🙂
