Democratic convention abuzz about permitting. Lawmakers and energy industry leaders have been talking up the prospects for passing an overhaul of the approval process for projects like transmission and solar farms by the end of the year.

Democratic convention abuzz about permitting

  1. All politics until congress or president does something.

  2. > Most progressive activists and Democratic congressional climate hawks only want to streamline the process for transmission lines and renewable generation, while many Republicans are only interested in clearing the way for more oil and gas projects.

    > Manchin and Barrasso’s bill would do both, something many moderate lawmakers consider a breakthrough.

Compromise will be the key. From the clean energy perspective I hope that we won’t have any misguided progressives trying to torpedoe the bill because it throws a few bones to the gas industry. And conversely I hope at least a handful of Republicans will see the wisdom of supporting it even though it also supports Satan’s clean energy. Gridlock benefits no one.

  3. I don’t want compromise because I don’t trust the right wing obstructionists in Congress.

Anyone who watched closely the legislation all go sour during the Obama years fully understands what I mean.

We need a mandate! Full control of House, Senate and the White House to boat race clean energy legislation. Nothing less.
