Time for a big one!
Louhi is an important character in the Kalevala, so I made a painted version as wel.
Queen of Pohjola, home of the ravens, she summons the monster Iku Turso to sink the boat of men coming to steal the sampo.
The combination of the meaning of meritursas today and the old meaning of tursas being a walrus, really made for an interesting monster I thought.
It’s rising from the fog breathed out by Ututyttö.
For Louhi herself I referenced tietäjä clothing and patterns. She’s often described as an old, ugly crone but I didn’t feel that would fit het character.
Finally, I added some northern light to add some mystical feeling, Louhi being a mighty sourceres.

Thank you for all your help and feedback so far!
There’s a lot of cool settings to draw with Louhi, so I’d like to draw a couple more later.
Let me know if you have any ideas!
