I was a Londoner for 10 years and this was my favourite spot when I lived there.
I'm sure the skyline has changed so much since the last time I was there.
I bloody miss London. Every day.
Please help me remember why it was not the worst decision to leave – I live in Southern Europe now – because frankly a part of me will never be the same without London.
Melancholy rant over, sorry 😅🥲

Shadwell Basin?
I left the Med for here, and honestly miss it too!
Some parts of all places will stick with you. There are amazing bits of everywhere. Make the most of where you are (The food! The weather! The architecture! The friendly people! The music culture!), come back for a visit and go-go-go while you’re here (you know all those things you didn’t do while you were living here? get some done!).
Also, take advantage of where you are as a launching pad! From your profile, you’re in Italy? Well. Have you been to Malta? Sicily? Cyprus? Switzerland? South of France? Isn’t there a ferry to Greece? What’s accessible to you, that would be harder to get to from here? I grew up in Australia and I always tell Aussies to move to London for a year or two if they can — simply because it’s easier to travel around Europe for a bit, on the cheap. The same is true for different parts of Europe, too.
I’ve lived all over the world. I love travelling, I love moving to new places, I love seeing new people. But I am so incredibly jealous of people who’ve only ever lived in one place their entire lives because they never have to say goodbye to anywhere!! And saying goodbye is hard. Some days you’re going to sit at the window and think ‘Why am I here and not there?’ but well…if you were there, you’d probably be doing the same thing. Sometimes we just have these melancholy days.
If you fancy coming back permanently you probably can, just have to figure out the logistics of it. But I’m sure you had good reasons for leaving, too.
