  1. What’s particularly effective about occupying Kursk is that it forces meatwaves to happen instead of simply inviting them to happen. Seems like no difference at a glance, but the fact Russian moves are being made under pressure means they are more predictable than they already were. That’s a weakness in any fight, but this war is artillery-heavy and artillery LOVES a predictable target.

    Meanwhile, occupied territories are gradually being stripped of their occupiers without fighting there. Soldiers in trenches who built themselves a home >!probably as good as they had in Russia!< have to go back into the elements and speedmarch through fire and thicket during peak bug season.

  2. What I don’t understand is why, if these soldiers face almost certain death, they don’t revolt! Must literally have guns at their head.

  3. Russian casualty figures are closer to 1,100 a month in the last three or four months. Their losses are huge and unsustainable in the long run, but probably still doable in the medium term.
