I’m working with Long COVID / ME. It’s no joke. I wonder if I’ll be in the same situation as this man.
I’ve yet to see a case of long covid that wasn’t coupled with depression and anxiety.
EDIT: Seems like nobody here has any reading comprehension, everyone seems to have misread my comment as “long covid is just depression and anxiety”.
Wait is there a test for this? I thought this was not real but I have been absolutely fucking knackered since I’ve had covid at the start of the year
I’m fairly sure I had COVID a few months ago and the fucker has done damage to my taste and smell. It’s been absolutely ages and I still only get hints here and there. It’s serious business COVID.
I’ve had it since January 2024 and it’s horrendous, has massively impacted my life. My symptoms are extreme fatigue and asthma mainly. 55 year old male, am just about able to work full time at a desk (have to work from home some days as I’m too fatigued to leave the house) but if there was any physical aspect to my work I would be unable to do.
I got COVID in March 2020, developed dysautonomia and Postural tachycardia syndrome (PoTS), chronic fatigue syndrome, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), awful respiratory problems, and have never recovered. NHS support is not always great, although it is way better now than it was 4 years ago. The biggest issue is departments not always knowing what is available, the pathways into the care and arguing about who funds it.
I’m incredibly fortunate as I already worked from home before I got it, and have a job where I can sleep in the day and work around everything with adjustments and a supportive employer once I returned to working.
Long COVID is grim and can absolutely ruin your life.

Forthe people saying they have long covid, I sympathise. Did you have the shots and did you get boosters. I am interested to know. Thanks.
Long Covid is really awful. Recently gone on a crusade after having liver function warnings from a blood test and decided losing weight is a good starting point. It took me 3 months to get my body to a place that would have taken me 2 weeks from completely sedentary before Covid (we’re talking about being able to walk 5 miles here, admittedly in hilly areas). Just irritating that my body does not recover properly and had numerous false starts where I pushed too hard trying to steal an extra day and lost an entire week.
You really need to be ultra careful because if you step over the limit you lose a week. I did a bunch of gardening and my hamstrings were shot for a week, didn’t even realise what condition I was in until the next morning and then for 6 days after that.
Fortunately liver function showed up good at the last test so at least that is in hand.
