Christ almighty, we’re becoming a nanny state like the USA.
Meanwhile there are children which are actually at-risk who I’m sure would appreciate some of those resources being sent in their direction.
Meanwhile my 16 year old step daughter struggles to catch a bus to the next town over without fucking it up…
Seriously though this is ridiculous parenting
Edit: It was a joke guys chill, not the part about the appalling parenting that’s quite obviously correct as Social Services are investigating her…
By the sounds of it somebody made a complaint, probably because they’re jealous or something asinine, and social services are doing the required due diligence.
Social services put it in a file just in case and aren’t going to do anything unless they get more complaints. I would say that’s pretty reasonable.
This is on whoever reported it more than social services.
Children are probably more at risk when their parent who had several glasses of wine the previous evening drives them to school in an SUV, a distance that could be walked in under 15 minutes.
If you are to target Kirstie Allsop for harm or neglect to children, start with the impact that her property programmes have, in putting homes without damp or mould outside the reach of too many families.
As a parent I wouldn’t allow a 15 year old travel out of the Country without a parent or adult family member. Am surprised that a 15 year old could be allowed to and solo as well
When i was a week over 16 I interrailed alone through France, Italy, Greece, Austria and Germany. It very much depends on how mature you are whether its a good thing to do. Theres some kids i know i wouldnt trust to do it at 21..
When are the new series of Location Location Location and Love it or List It gonna be back?
How far from the house is he allowed to go before its neglect? I mean Europe’s not a war torn horrorscape is it. I’m assuming a train journey for a 15 year old to say Edinburgh is OK so what’s the difference going to Berlin?
Plus he was with a 16yr old friend.
A 15 year old can be more than mature enough to travel Europe solo.
I’m surprised to hear this wasn’t a family holiday in which Kirstie travelled first class, staying in five star hotels whilst the kid was slumming it on a train and sleeping in a box. I wonder if she’ll be as permissive if he ever tries to buy a set of MALM bedside drawers.
I flew to Barcelona at 14 to meet a friend who lived there. We spent our time travelling to different places by train and hanging out in the local area. I’d have loved to have gone interrailing with a friend the following year.
Kirstie will be back on our screens with her new programme Interrogation, Interrogation, Interrogation.
Bloody hell… I mean I can’t honestly say I wouldn’t be stressing out the whole time my children were away but it wouldn’t change whether they were 15 or 18 tbh. 15 is an age where some kids are mature enough to function almost like an adult and some kids aren’t. She as the parent can gauge if her child is mature enough to go travelling at that age. Someone calling social services is ridiculous, especially now when we have phones so her son can keep in good contact and she likely knows where he is at all times.
Old people: “kids are too soft. They need to be more independent and able to look after themselves.”
Also old people: “NOT LIKE THAT”
I like the way she is acting as if it was outrageous and Orwellian and that the social worker just didn’t understaaaaaaand. It’s process. A concern was raised and will be looked into and that this happened will remain on file. The way she seems to think it is a terrible attack on her for this to be the case is genuinely amusing. What does she think happens generally? That a concern is raised and social services are told by the person it is raised about that there is nothing wrong so they apologise profusely and scrub the records of any mention of it? Deluded woman.
When I was 15, I went to Disneyland Paris with three friends who I think were all 16 at the time. It was a few months before my 16th birthday. We got driven from our homes in North London to the station, got straight on the Eurostar and got off right at the doors of the park. We shared a hotel room between the four of us, had an amazing 3 days in the park and then got back on the Eurostar home again. It’s one of my most treasured memories from my teenage years. We massively over protect children in the country, and it’s causing so much mental health damage.
With my social anxiety I couldn’t imagine doing that. Is that normal? I still have trouble going to the store. Is that the youth I’ve been missing out on? 🙁
I mean, I’m certainly no fan of hers, but this ain’t it
So what ffs
I remember my parents fucking off on holiday for a fortnight when I was that age, & I’ve only murdered three people this year.
I went to France, Germany, Bulgaria, canary Islands and even Kavos without my parents before I was 16, honestly not a big deal
She should get life imprisonment. Not for this specifically, just generally.
Good for her, I hope he has a great time. Just hope not too much spent on this feckless complaint.
Everyone doing what they’re designed to do here – someone who doesn’t like Kirsty Allsop because she has some weird opinions thought it would be funny to prank her with a call to social services, social services at least looking into it so they can say they’ve looked into it, Kirsry Allsop seizing the opportunity to get more likes and publicity by making a meal of it, people on social media having their say. The flawless tickover of a well oiled machine.
