Moving people in USA much harder to decarbonize than in rest of world. Westerners fly vastly more kilometers per year than anybody else travels by any mode of transportation.

Yeah, because we live in a giant, sparsely populated country that’s across the ocean from all the coolest vacation spots (aka Europe, Asia, etc.).
We could use blimps but jets and big oil doesn’t make money
One of the few perks of being poor……I’m pretty sure my carbon footprint is pretty small.
Unfortunately most Americans see killing the environment as an exercise of their personal freedoms. I as a human being feel that we have a responsibility to each other and the climate.
We need trains ffs.
Let’s get us and canada to co develop the border with high speed rail.
Get us and mexico to do the same thing.
Boom, electrified corridors that allow the US to have border security and development of border areas.
And 90% of Canada’s lived in areas.
I listed to a climate scientist who said air travel will be unsustainable do to climate change causing extreme wind shear. So I guess it will end naturally 🤷🏼
Here’s my list of stuff to give up to save the planet: gasoline cars, beef, jet-setting,…
I had a conversation the other day with a Boomer who still works. She has three homes, but her husband lives in home #1 in Pennsylvania which they consider primary residence. She flies to California to home #2 in Monterrey for work, and they sometimes end up meeting at home #3 in Arizona to be close to her, very old, parents.
They have no children and yet have the carbon footprint of about 4 full families.
perhaps we could start by avoiding using AI images in articles about decarbonization?
We suck
Individual carbon emissions are function of wealth and to a lesser extend commute distances. We are highest in both categories so this makes sense.
Well, if everyone had anxiety like I do, problem solved.
