‘I was an idiot’: Exporter who ‘bought’ Brexit slams ‘staggering and obscene’ costs

  1. Well, I’m not sure idiocy is a condition that goes away quite that quickly but admitting his own shortcomings is definitely the first step to resolving them. Honestly though, these sorts of people who were persuaded by outlandish claims like leaving the single market won’t affect trade, etc. basically suffer from child-like naïveté. Alas, now the damage is done and they have to lie in the bed that they’ve made!

  2. Some people claim that Brexit was really about protecting the culture (they would claim British culture, but really it is English culture). Those people have euphemisms for what they really want, but in the end, they might get something out of this.

But the folks who honestly bought the economic arguments? Utter idiots. The economic arguments were very clearly wrong, any people of sense saw that clearly.

  3. An exporter?

Someone whose job it is to trade with foreign countries?

A person whose entire existence depends on flow of goods across borders?

A person that should actually learn European politics?

How on Earth did he think that moving back to 1970s would be “good for trade”?

There are reasons to leave the EU, if you’re a craftsperson, a farmer, a poor urban dude – but an export worker?!

  4. You need to give credit to British people. Self reflection is very difficult and dodging populous rhetoric was amazing. Good luck.

My government is going back to ye old communist discourse.

  5. Well, if you bought brexit and you have buyer’s remorse now, you’re not particularly smart, so maybe it’s time for you to find alternative employment

  6. In 10 years everything will work out all right. Plenty of time to re-optimize supply chains.

Personal rant – I don’t want UK back though, at least not until it sincerely wants in EU like Moldavia and Ukraine, this 50/50 in/out shit is not it.
