Climbers on rim of erupting volcano run for their lives

Climbers ran for their lives on the rim of a volcano in Indonesia as it erupted behind them, terrifying video from 17 August shows.

The group were scaling Dukono, an active volcano on Halmahera island.

They were climbing when a huge ash cloud emerged from the crater, billowing into the air.

The sudden cloud prompted the climbers to scramble quickly down the mountain to avoid the danger.

It has not been confirmed if any of the group sustained any injuries.

  11. 😂😂they are all safe and they are climbers from Indonesia. They climbed Mount DUKONO to commemorate Indonesia's anniversary on August 17 to celebrate Independence Day and the officers there had given warnings. because every time there is an earthquake several mountains will erupt almost at the same time because in Indonesia earthquakes occur 6-7 times a day randomly they have all been blacklisted

  12. Been told a long time ago the most dangerous part of a volcano eruption isn’t the lava or falling rocks, but the pyroclastic flow. Dense ash and hot gas that moves at high speed and will cook you alive.

  16. I have not laughed harder than this in a long while. Like: RUN BITCHES! RUN! I get it if you have a death wish or a vulcanologist. But to go to the actual caldera of a volcano…???
