You know, I might be downvoted for this but I think it is not bad move for Nunes and potentially for us if he plays good for them and they pay something like 40 milion for him next summer. Unfortunately there is no place for him, even given the fact that KDB and Gundo is here for only 1-2 years. The positions he plays is fully stacked and he don’t offer something unique that other players can’t provide.
He will never make it at City, the sooner we offload for a fee the better.
I think he should go but this move has 0 benefits for us. He’s not starting for Atletico so it’s not like he’s going to develop
I would prefer to sell him permanently now because i just don’t think he’s good enough to play for us and besides if he’s not doing well while being on loan there his value will decrease even further and he will keep coming back and forth like Philips who we already struggle to offload.
I would like to see him stay or go on loan to a mid-table team in the Prem and come back. Not a club like Atleti, where he probably won’t play as much as he would in a club like, let’s say, Fulham. He needs more Premier League experience and game time. He deserves a chance, but it’s getting tougher now that Gundo is back. As soon as Gundo was announced I knew it was over for Matheus and McAtee for this season. Perrone has alredy gone on another loan too. Can’t say I agree with it, but I can understand the reasoning, in any case, Atleti is just a bad choice. We need players for the rotation if we want to challenge for the Champions League, FA, Prem, etc. And these guys could’ve and should’ve been an option for those cup games. It’s a nasty situation. I don’t like seeing kids and hardworking players get sent on endless loan spells. I still felt gutted that S. Gomez couldn’t stay with us. Guys like Kalvin, those can fuck off, but guys like Nunes and S. Gomez, I do feel for them; they get in in garbage time and always come in with commitment, attitude, and the drive to prove themselves. Honestly, I think Pep should have given Matheus more game time last season; I was hoping he’d get something more out of this one.
I never got on board with the signing. Not for football reasons I just don’t like his face. 😆
If he gets loaned his city career is over. Potentially worse than Kalvin because at this Kalvin was a need as a supposed Rodri backup. Nunes is and always has been a strange purchase
With Gündo back, I just don’t see where his minutes are going to come from as I feel like Pep will want to play McAtee or even O’Reilly more. This also opens a spot in the team for a back-up striker if Pep feels like we need one (although, I kind of think this is the team whether or not Nunes goes).
He is simply not good enough to break through already over stacked position. Hopefully we can close the business on this.
His City career was over the moment he chose not use his full post Euros break despite not playing at the competition. He should have joined the team in New York like Kova and Gvardiol.
He has a chance to redeem himself if he gets lucky with significant squad injuries.
It’s a shame because I think he could be a cracking player but he’s just not going to get the game time. Realistically, he’d need the team to have an injury crisis to receive substantial minutes on the pitch. We’re too stacked in that area of the pitch.
Loan him to Girona. They are City Group, they’ll play the Champions League and he will get more playing time at a possession based attacking side than in Atleti.
It’s tough, i don’t think he was ever given a real chance
i really was cooked here on this sub for saying nunes was a non-game changing signing and letting go of doyle + palmer to fund a move for this guy is a bad decision…
im not even saying we shouldnt have let go of doyle + palmer. im saying its not worth to let go of them to bring him in.
what now?
and this is not a dig at nunes.
What happened with Nunes? I was excited when we signed him, but I feel like he did OK in like 5 games and never saw the pitch again.
Good player… not sure why he came here because he doesn’t suit the style of play.

Would have been a perfect Klopp midfielder
