Whenever I see an image like this I always wonder how many bicycles are underwater there
I still think Amsterdam (and other Dutch cities too) is the most beautiful city in Europe. Not only because of the beautiful medieval core (’cause you can find those in other cities, and probably even more beautiful), but because the subsequent developments are very gradual evolutions from the core design. There are no sudden Greek and Roman inspired neighbourhoods that look totally different. There is a break in architectural style in the 20. century, but a lot of these buildings can still be identified as being from a Dutch city. And newer developments are going back to the old style of housing, with smaller land lots and use of similar bricks and colours, like the [Amsterdam Houthaven](https://www.amsterdam.nl/projecten/houthaven/) development.

The weirdest thing though, is that you’ll have a street like this with beautiful facades, only to have a literal Mcdonalds or H&M inside of it, which can be disorienting.
Woa!! We just stayed in the room that is in the center of this photo for over a week. It’s called Hotel the Craftsman, it’s the “Artist’s Suite”. Amazing place to stay if you ever have the chance.
