Like THAT would have stopped the torture and killing of Ukraine People by Russia!? Russia would have killed secretly everything and everyone that they would have seen as a threat to them in Ukraine.

it’s called populism. not that complicated.
This is similar to a lot of views of the war here in Brazil. A lot of far-right loves Putin because of is conservative position, anti-LGBT and patriotism (well, he is racist and also sending a lot of muslim to the war while few christians go to the front), other far rights don’t like him because think he is commie. While a lot of leftist believe that he is fighting the american imperialism nazis (ignoring the ruzzians own nazism) and he is making a USSR comeback
