During the battle, the Ottomans used the firearm kneeling position, the first of its kind, with 200 tüfenks (muskets) forming “nine consecutive rows and they fired their weapons row by row” in a “kneeling or standing position without the need for additional support or rest”.
The Ottoman victory led to the partition of Hungary for several centuries between the Ottoman Empire, the Habsburg monarchy, and the Principality of Transylvania.
Further, the death of Louis II as he fled the battle marked the end of the Jagiellonian dynasty in Hungary and Bohemia, whose dynastic claims passed to the House of Habsburg.
It’s been all downhill for Hungary ever since Mohács
What a sad day for europe
The start of the downhill. I wonder how a different outcome could have changed history
Some additional info: The king was only 20 years old. We are not sure about his death, but he probably drowned in a creek because of his heavy armor.

Mohacs nowadays is a border crossing town between Hungary and Croatia, near Udvar. Soon the highway will be ready and everyone will forget this name.
Ironic how the greatest victors resulting from this weren’t the Ottomans but the Habsburgs.
King of Croatia as well. Mohacs was a pivotal disaster for us as well, even though our own nobility and army got hammered a bit earlier at the Battle of Krbava field.
Lets talk a bit about “beforemath” of the battle. The nobility that was with Louis II of Hungary was of northern nobility(and as you can guess [hopefully] northern regions of the kingdom was not militarised regions unlike the southern regions, hence the nobility from northern regions was your classic “dumbo dumbo” aristocracy who needed Art of War to be writen for them.) and this northern nobility idk howsome(overconfidence, martial prowess and jealousy)but somehow managed to convince Louis the II to give battle meanwhile there was armies of Voyvod of Translyvania(John Zapolya) which was a seasoned military commander and had an good in shape army in his disposal, Czech and German mercenaries which if Louis the II combined with he would have an army around 50k unlike what he had of 25k-35k in Battle of Mohaç.
Turkish-Hungarian wars are one of my favorites 🍿to read about.
