The government doesn’t want to but there’s currently an ongoing lawsuit at the constitutional court that claims restrictions on cannabis (for non commercial private purposes) violates personal freedom. If the court agrees that a full ban isn’t reasonable the government will be forced to write a new law with that in mind. The decision is expected later this year.
