Months ago I thrifted this skirt in my homeland and saw on the label it was made in Germany. I wore it to school today and got some wierd looks (?). Is it inappropriate to wear something like this in Germany?

1. No, I’d say, it’s rather unusual, most people wear pants, but it’s not inappropriate, so do what you like

3. It’s just unusual to wear skirts for school, most girl wear jeans. But be yourself and wear thing which you like.

   I think its a nice skirt.

   Oh, and I assumed that you are a girl, but one can’t see it in the picture. If you are a boy, then it would be really strange, but then my advice stay the same, wear it, if you like it.

   Edit: And if you are neither, then it’s still the same. One should be really cautions in assuming genders this days..

   But I always get stares and comments from Germans because I wear “summer” clothing and shoes outside of June-August, when most people here are in jeans, wool socks, and jackets. I suspect that might have been your issue. I run hot by nature and hate constrictive clothing, so I get this all the time with my sandals and tank tops out of season.

   It’s a pretty common topic on this sub, as well as various “Life in Germany ” YouTube series, that Germans typically don’t like draughts or being at all cold. I suppose no one likes those things, but people here – including my German husband and friends- are more afraid/worried about being cold/getting sick than the average person in my country, or from what I remember in the UK living there for 4 years (mini skirts and short tops to go out on Saturday night, even in winter).

9. It is inappropriate bc this is a pettycoat or underskirt. It is meant to go under a regular skirt.

   It is like a guy walking around in boxers without putting on shorts over his boxers.

   While the level of coverage is appropriate, showing the garment in public is not.

15. It’s a pretty skirt but it looks a little sheer/not a thick fabric for white. Is it see through in the light?

19. It does kinda look like a curtain but its still nice and it seems to suit you. So you do you and ignore the weird looks…you’d probably get them regardless.
