Tell ye what is is. I was outside the other day and found a wee mound of dirt in the yard, with a hole in the centre. Interesting. I assumed it was a worm or a bee and went on with my day.

Later on when I checked on it, the mound had grown. Father in Law's dog was scratching at it, so I put a couple of bricks beside it to keep it safe. Father In Law says it's definitely a bee building its home for the winter.

Next morning, I was amused/alarmed to find a second mound with a hole. Either the creature has moved the wife in, or it didn't like the bricks and decided to move. I've no idea where the orange dirt has come from – none of that in my garden that I can see, so it must be a very enterprising bug to be transporting such an amount from wherever the muck is from, to my yard. When I just checked now, the mound has grown again. I've stood nearby watching, but haven't seen any movement.

So what do we think? Spider? Bee? Worm? Sand King like The Outer Limits? Is my house about to be swarmed by a colony of some as yet unidentified species?
