  1. I’m genuinely sick of this guy.

Since the Game Of Thrones finale I’ve passed my A-Levels, finished University and been in employment for 2 years and he still hasn’t finished Winds Of Winter.

  2. Fuckin *write*, bro. Stop bitching when you’re the one who keeps signing the rights over to these stories. Like holy shit talk about a fuckin whiner of a human being. *You’re the one making the shows, numbnuts*

    Jesus christ.

  3. I don’t even care if he finishes that book at this point.

  4. He seems to have time for everything BUT finishing his books.

  5. Extremely disrespectful to all the cast and crew that worked on the series.

He’s taking HBO’s bag, he should keep his criticisms to himself.

  6. As the creator of this world he’s allowed to have those feelings. Doesn’t mean they need to hold any weight though. Famously Stephen King was adamant that Kubrick’s The Shining ruined his book because Kubrick changed a bunch of things. To the point that decades later King took charge of a Shining miniseries he fully endorsed as being his “true vision” and while it may be more accurate it isn’t nearly as good as Kubrick’s movie is.

Most Fire and Blood book readers I have heard from think the show is doing a very good job of adapting the books, with the most major changes being just streamlining plot lines and condensing characters which happen any time a book is adapted. If GRRM wants to complain about the show that’s his right to do so but it feels petty to do so while the show is still going. Let them land before publicly attacking them for not doing the story the way he wanted.

  7. I sometimes think about a coworker I used to know in 2015. He was rushing to finish reading the GOT books because he thought the next one was coming out in 2016. Nine years later and I’m sure that guy gave up hope for the next book by now.

  8. Im convinced this guys just to much of coward to finish the book at this point

  9. I read all the books, multiple times. Was enamored of the GOT show. The final season was a disappointing wrap-up, and I resigned myself to that ending being **the** ending that I would get. George is old and has sworn not to let anyone else finish the books. A finale of “who has the best story” is the end.

My daughter continues to like HOTD. She hadn’t read the books. She cannot understand why I’m not digging HOTD. I may slog through the new season, but it’s a slog.

I know how Foundation and Dune end, but those shows/movies remain compelling. Umbrella Academy took a left turn from the source material, but I binged that, and enjoyed it. I’m just not fired up for anything in Westeros anymore. Not going to disparage 20 years of enjoyment, but it’s done now, for me.

  10. Hopefully he has soon exhausted all the side quests on the map and gets back to the main quest.

  11. lol everyone’s like “shut up and scribble”😭

  12. I don’t think there is anything wrong with HOTD personally. It’s a great show. People are upset that it didn’t have a shit load of action but the way they did it is setting up season 3 to be insane and I’m excited for that

  13. I swear this guy just sits around sniffing his own farts all day.

  14. Just stop please. Elden Ring was awful. Just give it up already

  15. I think he’s cornered himself with the million characters and storylines he has going on in the books and doesn’t have a clue how to finish Winds of Winter

  16. Ive already resigned myself that the books are never going to be finished. I constantly try to merge where the books left off and where the TV show took characters and tie them together just to make a head-canon of my own.

  17. Bro will literally write anything except the ending to his books.

  18. He’s completely written himself into a corner and has no idea how to get out of it

  19. Good the industry is going to the shit and following the exact same playbook for failure. Glad someone with some pull is speaking out

  20. Does anyone give a fuck what this guy has to say anymore? Seriously. Publish the end to your shit series or just shut up already.

  21. I don’t know why everyone is saying to just finish the book here when the story HotD is based off of is done.

  22. Anyone who read the books pretty much knows already George. Anyone who didn’t most likely loves the show because they love being spoon feed bullshit.

  23. Logan Lucky had a plot point around the fact that the Winds of Winter hadn’t been released yet, the movie came out in 2017.

  24. I think he has a mental block because he saw D&D either completely fuck up his plan ending or completely nail his ending (which everyone hated)

I would guess they fucked it up and it has made him gun shy but I think the best we’ll ever see is a draft and notes/outlines in the remaining story

  25. It’s obvious that while Benioff and Weiss may have rushed it (and changed some of the things like no Young Griff or Lady Stoneheart) but they hit the main points of Martin’s planned ending, Martin saw how much it was hated, and has no idea how to get out of the ending he was working towards.

I’ve given up hopes of ever reading *Winds of Winter*, let alone *Dream of Spring*.

  26. If the dude has problems with the way others are finishing his stories… maybe he should finish them himself.

  27. Finish the books or just say that you never will. That’s really unkind to his fans

  28. Can’t he just go away? I feel like he’s become a hindrance to the ecosystem.

  29. Well the, he should probably try writing a fully fleshed out story BEFORE collecting millions. Not selling an outline of a story from a fake history book would have been a great start. What a fool.

  30. People are going to turn on him so much harder than they already have if/when this dude says it was woke writers that ruined HoTD.

  31. My guess is it’s already done but it won’t be released until he’s dead. He doesn’t want to deal with any fallout bs.

  32. I do think he will finish WOW in the next 5-7 years. He won’t finish the final book.

  33. Ok ok ok, I see a big problem here. Is George R.R. Martin so removed from the production and show-running of this show that he has to correct things after the fact? Or at pretend to? If so, did this happen for Game of Thrones?

I wouldn’t let any television studio have full reign over my material, especially when the ending to my story was first told on the screen from 20+ years and five books. Sounds like he’s lost focus.

  34. Fucking hell, whatever they’re doing “wrong” on House of the Dragon, I hope they don’t fix it – it’s great.
