Hot Take: “A Man Called Otto” is pretty good.
I give it to Forrest Gump
He’s got a lot of great ones though.
He has a lot of classics, but claiming Saving Private Ryan is his best isn’t gonna ruffle too many feathers.
Playing Andrew Beckett in Philadelphia is the best… or Victor Navorski in The Terminal.
For me it’s Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail.
I sometimes forget that it’s a Tom hanks movie. Like every Tom Hanks movie is a Tom hanks movie, but SPR is such an ensemble masterpiece, I just don’t think of it has a “hanks” movie
Big, Philadelphia, forest gump, Saving private Ryan, cast away.
Those are his top 5, and that’s leaving some good ones out
Big for me. One of the few where I can’t imagine anybody else playing his part.
Joe Vs the Volcano, I will die on this hill*
*volcano
Splash and Big being in the top 5 makes me happy
Things like this get you into the question of best movie vs. movie HE was best in.
SPR is arguably his best movie because of its technical brilliance, compelling story, etc. But was that his best performance? Probably not.
I think you gotta look to Philadelphia or Forrest Gump or even Toy Story for that.
Gotta be Cast Away. That man made us cry over a fucking volleyball.
Nope. It’s The Money Pit.
Forrest or cast away imo
“You’re not here to do the right thing, you’re here to follow *fucking orders*!” First time I ever heard Tom Hanks say fuck, somehow amidst all the violence in SPR, **that** is what really stuck out to me.
Clearly they’ve not see The Man With One Red Shoe 😀
Toy Story, Forrest Gump, Philadelphia, Apollo 13
Tom Hanks for President?
I mean, knowing of course that if asked Mr. Hanks would give some polite and kind hearted version of “FUCK NO!”
The Burbs is way too low on that list.
I’d say Philadelphia. Required more of him and oh boy did he deliver
I liked The Ladykillers, but I expected it to rank low.
Uh pretty sure it’s the burbs
Everyone knows Tom Hanks best work was on “Bosom Buddies”.
Big. It’s always and always will be Big.
Forrest Gump is his best role in my humble opinion
