  1. That would suggest it was actually friendly fire. Hope it doesn’t affect the UA F-16 program going forward.

  2. Surprising it took this long. The Ukrainian air campaign has been really weird.

  3. Could one of Ukraines Patriot missles be responsible for mistaking one of their own? Thats the talk of the military. The is a very lethal aircraft that should not have been lost along with a hero of the Ukraine.

  4. Zelenskyy is a good commander in chief, he is dealing with corruptions, invasion, short of arms, terrorism. He has solutions for all these issues. Ukraine is independence still. I believe in Zelenskyy. Slava Ukraini.

  5. “Friendly Fire” happens in nearly every conflict. It shouldn’t be especially surprising in such high tempo environments.

    Slava Ukraini!

  6. I’ve been quietly advocating that they fire ALL the older colonels and generals who don’t have the overwhelming support of their men.

Get the young smart ones in there.

Ukraine clearly has some brilliant military minds. Time to prune the old branches and let the new ones bear fruit.

  7. haven’t read the whole story but it sounded like the pilot tried to be a hero and may have disobeyed orders and flown into the wrong zone.

Read about this on twitter. a lot of ex-warsaw pact pilots failed NATO training when their nations first joined because of the differences in operations and they were too stubborn to change

  8. Friendly fire does happen, and sometimes to important people. Just within the United States military I can think of Pat Tillman and Stonewall Jackson just off the top of my head.

But a General should never make highly political arguments or rants even if they feel justified in doing so. A non-partisan civilian led military is an essential requirement of a healthy and lasting democracy

  9. It should be clear to everyone here now that the loss of that pilot and aircraft was a big deal. It not only affects combat, it’s a huge political blow in terms of getting support from the west.

What I am happy to see is moves like this by leadership. That mistake was completely unacceptable and change mandatory given the severity. This part of the story is a good thing for Ukraine.

They just now need to apply it to the Pokrovsk front where front line troops have been saying there’s a problem since before Avdiivka fell

  10. All stuff Zelensky does is a populism. I can say it, I’m Ukrainian and I see a lot of stuff. It is just stupid.
