The V-1 flying bomb was the original suicide drone. The engine is super simple.

Add modern flight controls and optimisation you would be able to make a super cheap crusie missile with a range likely around 1,000km and a payload around 1,000kg.

Is this something Ukraine should be investigating?

  1. Hmm isn’t it the guidance systems that is the most expensive and complicated part? So in the end it will be just as expensive. Please fill in if I have missed something?

  2. I would get such a boner hearing the sound of multiple V-1 replicas heading towards Moscow.

  3. these would be too slow really, easily shot down by the cheapest of guns. now, if you would be evading radar, then there might be something to be said for it
