  1. Policing things which aren’t crimes?

I find that highly offensive, someone arrest that idea

  2. What the fuck is a non criminal hate crime?

I thought all hate crime was illegal.

The law recognises five types of hate crime on the basis of:

    Race

    Religion

    Disability

    Sexual orientation

    Transgender identity

Any crime can be prosecuted as a hate crime if the offender has either:

demonstrated hostility based on race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or transgender identity
    Or

been motivated by hostility based on race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or transgender identity

I mean, what else is there? 🤔

  3. Britain will soon be full China at the rate this government is going.

  4. Even though non crimes are already recorded as a non crime incident. Ffs is their own Home Office Counting and Recording rules. Left hand meet right hand.

  5. Racist incidents that fall below the criminal as standard for prosecution have been recorded for years .It’s akin to recording near misses in the accident book at work and allows you to map lower level racist activities emerging in a location. Examples could be young children or people with mental illness being racist.

  6. We live in a time where the police struggle to record crimes, let alone non-crimes. What next, the police to monitor how long Domino’s takes to deliver? How many bad pints Wetherspoons serve?

  7. Basically, they’re wanting to reverse a Tory policy that was designed to artificially deflate crime numbers.

In this case it’s about hate crime, but they also played the same trick with Fraud reporting, by routing all fraud reports through an agency that would reject most of the reports, and not report them to police forces that would actually record them as crimes.

In this way the tories massaged the crime numbers to hide the extent of criminal activity and their own incompetence in addressing crime. And, in so doing, further enabled and empowered the criminals.

We should celebrate a government that isn’t afraid to report the true extent of criminal activity rather than those who throw citizens under the bus to hide their own ineptitude.

  8. Sensibilities and thought-policing aside, our existing police forces honestly don’t have the time to do this stuff! They can’t even do anything close to what they actually need to do as it is. They should be able to confirm there is no crime, then move on to the next thing.

If the government want to have non-criminal recording (and what next, collating? responding?), then they will really have to start building up some sort of civil disobedience task force.

Now, who has their Guy Fawkes mask ready?

  9. I would rather they use their limited resources to put foot to pavement and actually do some god damn police work.

  10. They want to start recording criminals, that would be a good start. All these folk gearing up for a fight, shoplifting, mugging…..but no….lets go and arrest the people who shout hurty words at someone and makes them cry.
