Hi, I’m in Hendon London and there is an injured stray coming to our home through cat flap to eat. I can’t catch him because he is too skittish. I’ve tried to ask local vets and charities to lend me a cat trap but with no luck. Any ideas how to capture him and get him help asap?

  1. Too as to this, I tried lullabelles they told me to send email, no response since yesterday. Local medivet said they don’t lend traps. RSPCA told me to call local branch, local branch phone number had only record message option still waiting for a response. PDSA hospital hasn’t replied yet also. Moonstone also no reply yet. Where can I get a cat trap? I want to take him to vet asap

  2. Find a local cat shelter. You can get cat traps on Amazon but they’re not cheap – they’ll have one, though, and they will also have experience dealing with skittish cats. A stray *will* attack if it feels trapped, and it can get ugly.

[Cats protection in Hendon](https://www.cats.org.uk/hendon) might be an option, if you haven’t contacted them yet.

  3. Once I get a trap, does anyone know how to deal with this? I don’t know how he will react. He comes to the house twice a day morning and evening. Doesn’t let me come close to him but is friendly with our cats. Possibility of trapping my own cats is high 😂 but if I manage what do I do next? Can I Carry him in that trap to hospital?

  4. Can anyone recognise if this injury is life threatening? Would it heal by itself? I will take him as soon as I manage to local vet anyway but just wondering. Thank you for all the responses so far.

  5. Have you got a cat carrier? If you have, try and use it to catch the cat. Put the carrier so it backs onto the cat flap – and lock the cat flap if you can – so the cat goes into the carrier. You’re doing a lovely thing to help this cat – thank you! 🥰🥰

  6. There are various places, you can try first to get him treatment if emergency at blue cross, hospital in Victoria, Hammersmith or Merton.

Next best thing is Battersea cats and dogs home. If they say no, as others have said try local shelters.
