  1. English translation of the [article](https://www.rtl.nl/nieuws/politiek/artikel/5468345/nederland-donatie-28-viking-rupsvoertuigen-militair-materieel):

In all silence, 28 Viking tracked vehicles have been transported to Ukraine in recent days. Sender: the Netherlands. This year, the Netherlands has already donated more than three billion euros worth of ammunition and equipment to Kyiv. It doesn’t stop there. “We will continue to support Ukraine unabated,” says Minister Brekelmans of Defence.

The Vikings are being prepared for departure at a military complex in the middle of the country. A whole row of trucks is ready to take the tracked vehicles to Ukraine. For safety reasons, the Vikings are completely wrapped in blue tarpaulin, so that it is not visible what exactly is being transported.

Colonel Wouda is scouring the country for equipment for Ukraine. From tanks to sleeping bags, and from bulldozers to army boots, everything is needed. According to Wouda, the Vikings are also ‘desperately needed’.

    **Difficult terrain**

Vikings are armoured tracked vehicles that can be deployed in the most diverse conditions: from extreme cold to extreme heat. “They are used mainly to move troops or equipment on difficult terrain,” says Wouda. “But also for evacuating wounded.”

Last year, Ukraine already received a series of these Vikings from the Netherlands. “They are very happy with them.” Moreover, it cuts both ways. The Ukrainians share their experiences on the battlefield. According to Wouda, this is ‘a very good source of information’ about how this system can hold up in a real war.

    **Mobile radars**

Recently, the Ministry of Defence ordered 51 radars for Ukraine from a company in The Hague, Robin Radar Systems, which specialises in equipment that can detect drones. Given the large-scale drone attacks that Russia has recently carried out, Ukraine can also make good use of these radars.

This is the second time that Robin Radar Systems has received such an order. There is one major difference with the first delivery. At the request of Ukraine, the radars have been further developed so that they can also be deployed mobile – for example mounted on a jeep. This way, they can also protect military convoys against attacks from the air.

    **Billions**

For the period from 2024 to 2026, almost nine billion euros have been reserved for military support to Ukraine. Of this, around three billion euros have been spent so far this year. The new cabinet will also make significant cuts in a number of expenditures, but the resources for Ukraine will not be affected.

According to Defence Minister Brekelmans, firm agreements were made during the cabinet formation for the longer term and these are not up for discussion. “The support that has been agreed for Ukraine stands. We are very clear that we will continue to support Ukraine unabated.”

According to Brekelmans, the Russian attacks of the last few days prove once again that more rather than less support is needed. “So we will have to continue to look with all our creativity: can we deliver faster and can we deliver more.”

  2. the dutch are the best, cant say that of my country (belgium)

  3. Those little things are extremely amazing imo, if you are interested!
They can get through terrain most vehicles (including Tanks) cannot, and the powered articulated joint between the sections is amazing!

  4. Ukraine should start to modify most of their vehicles for the winter, those heavy tanks, APCS, MRAP and other vehicles would have difficulties for this winter

  5. Hopefully they can launch patriots from the trailer as that is what Ukraine desperately needs

  6. As a dutch person I’m looking at those tracks and thinking, why did we need these in the first place? Battles on the beach?

  7. Once this is over. I’m visiting Netherlands I would love to thank this great country! Hope we can return the good one day!

  8. Did not know we have them. But i am glad we can give them away.

Hope they safe a lot of lifes.

  9. Dutch get it. The enemy is Russia. You don’t need all these weapons collecting dust when they can be put to use now. Russia won’t be marching on Amsterdam ever.

  10. Good for when the mud starts and you need to run over some Russian (trenches)

  11. Our government sucks at a lot of things, but defeating the orcs aint one of them. Slava Ukraini!

  12. Drove one of them in Afghanistan. Great vehicle. Especially in muddy terrain. Terrible on IED’s/ mines though

  13. I guess these are more for transportation , don’t think they can do damage in the field

  14. It’s not a Fighting vehicle, it’s a transporter.
It can go anywhere, so it’s very useful.

  15. Not always proud of my country but the big donations and political leverage used in favour of Ukraine is great.

  16. The Netherlands has proven, again and again, to be a true friend of Ukraine. This is leadership.

I know from my own experiences that those vehicles can make way in any kind of terrain summer, autumn, winter or spring and carry many soldiers and their equipment.

  17. As a Dutchie I’m proud and honored to contribute to Ukraine through my taxes!

  18. Didn’t know we had those, and now we no longer do I suppose, but I’m sure they’ll make better use of it.
