  1. Ukraine presents US with list of targets in Russia it wants to hit with ATACMS missiles.

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said in an Aug. 30 interview that he had submitted to senior U.S. officials a list of targets that Ukraine wants to hit with U.S.-supplied long-range ATACMS missiles in Russia.

“They’re killing our citizens. That is why we want to deter them, we want to stop them, we don’t want [to] allow their aviation to come closer to our borders to bomb the cities,” he said.

  2. From the US perspective, this seems even worse. Though it is a bit of a bind. The US should not be approving specific strikes if it wants to maintain plausible distance between itself and Ukraine, but it also needs to keep some sort of a leash on Ukraine to prevent the kind of escalation that the US does not want. Nothing about this conflict is easy.

  3. While I hope all targets and the use of ATACMs is allowed. It would be silly if they “approve” these targets, but limit other use, as we cry about escalation. It would be more escalatory in my opinion if we are single handedly approving targets. Give Ukraine weapons and let them decide how they’re used if you want a hands off approach.

  4. If its a military target Ukraine wants to hit, they should be able to no questions asked. The US should just say no civilian centers and have a blast.

  5. Russia will never use nukes and they’ve escalated using every capability they have besides nukes. So let Ukraine hit military targets in Russia. Especially the airfields staging the missile launching planes.

  6. All legit. I sure hope the kremlin is one of those targets
