  1. We already had this discussion here or on the DACH subreddit. It’s for visually impaired people so they can recognise this as a bench.

  2. Perfect example for hostile architecture by the way. The benches would be perfectly fine without the arm rests, but often times they are but there intentionally to stop the homeless from sleeping on them.

    Edit: Down voted mich, nur zu, weil ich euer perfektes Deutschland kritisiere.

  3. I thought they were for placing your shoe on to retie laces, rather than foot on seat…🤷🏻‍♂️

  4. When the chair folds up it’s to hold the two halves together so they don’t swing apart when stowing them. I think

  5. Oke , i think its for tieing…teirn…tiet…. wheb your shoes untie you put it in there just to not make bench dirty … but im Polish so i might be wrong
