I think the main difference is that people still live in Blackpool
Growing up in blackpool you see alot. The amount of changes that have happened. It used to be a town where tourists and residents were treated the same. Money being put into many things for both parties. Now the council just put more and more money into the tourist parts. When homelessness, drug use and crime is always on the rise there. They are spending 1 mill on a new cinema.
I get it, its a tourist town, get the tourist in, get more money. Although they need to do alot more for the people who live there.
It is a shithole. I understand why people think it is. It can be a better town. Unfortunately that will cost money that the council won’t see as a positive exchange.
Visiting Blackpool to see family every few months or so. It is getting worse. Tourists won’t want to visit Blackpool if the town residents aren’t looked after, because who is gone work for Blackpool.
I do miss Blackpool but can only be there max a week.
You need to come see Redcar, on the North East coast, it’s known as Deadcar nowadays…
Decided to take a trip to Blackpool once, as I had never been. Our holidays were always to Ingoldmells. Thought it would be quite similar, but shit a brick… arrived at 08:00ish and was on my way back before 12:00.
Used condoms outside the toilets, needles, boarded up windows, b and bs that needed 10ps for the radiators.
Made Ingoldmells look like the Almalfi coast to be honest.
It might not be the most politic thing for a neighbouring councillor to say, but I’m also sure he’s not the first person to make the comparison. Blackpool is really not a nice place.
I went to Blackpool in the 1980s. Never wanted to go back.
Can I please take the time to point out Chernobyl is recovering.
I’m willing to start a gofund me to send that twat to Chernobyl just so he can get a first hand fucking look at what a nuclear meltdown actually looks like.
