I'm moving to Germany for the first time and I have been informed to get my own internet connection. I will be getting a DSL connection from what I understand. Most providers I checked charge additional amounts for a router, so I'm planning on bringing my own from my home country. However, I just want to know what socket is the router usually connected to? The way it works here is that the fiber cable goes into a device which then connects to the modem which is then connected to an ethernet socket, and I connect the router to this ethernet port.
On my rental contract it says Vodafone socket is provided in the room? So will I need a router that accepts co-axial cable as the source connection? Or do the walls usually have an ethernet port? Or does the internet provider set up a modem and an ethernet access port?
For reference. I'm planning on bringing a Nokia Beacon 6
