What do you mean? Your phone uses GPS and other technologies to determine where exactly it is. Apps can request permission to access this information — it’s very common (how else do you think Google Maps works?).

the approximate thingy basically uses the data your phone can’t hold back like the next three telephone posts you are connected to and/or your wifi ip etc
