Need some help!

Hello! I’m Australian and my family was looking at some of my grandma’s photos of her childhood and family from back in Scotland. My family needs some help understanding what the writing on this postcard means (second photo) and I couldn’t think of any other good places to ask because we’re all stumped. Even my grandma is unsure of what this means

We can make out the words “Can you tell me what man of the three is not married. I can’t. Not a very good one but it might a been ???”
This was sent by my great great grandfather to my great great grandmother estimated to be sent around 1905. Perhaps it’s an inside joke, but if it’s a reference to literature we’d love to know what it means. It’s worth mentioning that they were both from West Calder, so it may be slang or a local saying. Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but any help is appreciated
