Thoughts?

To me it feels a bit like leaving your Christmas lights up.

Historic/iconic building with over 100 years of history, the rings were a nice addition – but should be kept as a temporary adornment.

  1. They won’t be permanent, every country leaves the rings on for a period after the games

  2. Maybe if they made them the same color as the rest of the structure…

  3. We left a lot of rings up in Atlanta; they’re still there almost 30 years later. I think it’s a lovely reminder of history.

  4. I doubt this is true. It might be there maybe for another month or two but it’s definitely coming down. The tower is iconic by itself and the rings while were cool is not part of it.

  5. I like this for now and if France later decides to take them down, it’s ok.

  6. youre making a fuzz out of this. its not permanent, just a little longer

  7. If the tower is majority owned by the city, and the mayor wishes this to be the case, then they will remain. But a mayor is not permanent.

  8. The Eiffel Tower itself was meant to be a temporary structure. I can kind of see the historical parallels.

  9. No offense but it looks tacky like seeing Christmas decorations in march lol

  10. It’s like if that decision was Anne Hidalgo’s masterplan so the entire world can see her as the Parisians already see her: a well intentioned lunatic

  11. was the lights a temporary thing years ago? They looked so cool they decided to keep them. The rings are awesome, keep them up until LA in 28.

  12. Who cares? The Paris Olympics were fantastic. It will be a cool reminder until they decide it’s no longer permanent. I dig it

  13. I mean they aren’t really going to stay there forever.

I’ll give it one year tops
