The eruptions show the challenge faced by the island country of nearly 400,000 people, as scientists warn that the Reykjanes peninsula could face repeated events for decades or even centuries.

  1. Climate Scientist know next to nothing about the decadal and millennium impact of volcanic eruptions on the climate.

Ice core evidence for major volcanic eruptions at the onset of Dansgaard-Oeschger warming events

"We hypothesize that this asymmetric response to volcanic eruptions may be a result of the direct influence of volcanic cooling on the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation, which is widely regarded as the main climate subsystem involved in Dansgaard-Oeschger cycles."

"The analysis presented suggests that large eruptions may act as short-term triggers for large-scale abrupt climate change, and may explain part of the variability of Dansgaard-Oeschger cycles."

  2. I hope iceland is being hammered in green taxes over this ?! The amount of carbon these are emitting is off the scale !!

  3. Build a power station ontop of this and convert it all to electricity, to charge up the worlds needs for electric cars,
