  2. Where is the money coming from? The world is seeing runaway inflation because of all the magical money printing and spending of the last few years.

This adds fuel to the fire.

  3. I like the idea of the focus on public transport fares (on top of the halving of them for under 26s in the last budget). Its feels very green – to be taking the increase in fuel tax and moving it into lower public transport fares, as it creates a cost benefit to public transport. I presume the idea is that his 20% reduction becomes permanent, as they are hardly reaching next Janaury and going – ha ha suckers, up the fares go again.

  4. 20% public transport discount? Absolutely no fucking use to anyone outside of Dublin. What about people up and down the country? We need some kind of diesel/petrol discount then. Waiting…..

  5. That’s cool and all. Now what about the 4 million of us that don’t use public transport at all as it’s not available in our location?

  6. Could they not just take that 50 mil and make a decent public transit system that services the whole country? In Vancouver I spent 89 dollars a month for unlimited travel across the cities buses and underground. It’s fifty quid for a return train from limerick to Dublin last I checked.

  7. Would suit them better to cut the price of diesel and petrol. That way everyone can that doesn’t need public transportation can benefit , and transport companies can pass on the savings to customers.
