They’ve known its counter productive for decades but they choose to keep it illegal regardless. At least they are being somewhat honest about referring to the industry as a big employer that the state is dependent on.
Not at all I know lots of useless folks who wouldn’t have an income if it wasn’t for our drug laws, and supply is plenty as well as the quality, of weed at least.
Like it’s not like there’s often reports of how some illicit substances may be beneficial in medical world either. And sure it keeps the boys in blue busy too
““I think we need to see all those issues teased out,” he said. “It can’t just become about the legalisation of one particular drug.”
Love that quote from him. Cannabis is not special. Legalization of ALL currently illegal drugs is what’s needed.
Decriminalisation of the end user of all drugs at the minimum.
I’m gonna set up a LGBT pro-cannabis group called “Gaze 4 Haze”.
FF and Co had a chance to get the ball rolling this week with regards to the citizens assembly and they decided to start with far less important issues. Its been put to Micheal Martin and his answers would have meant more if he just opened his mouth and dribbled down his chin.
The experience of Portugal decriminalizing drug use should be examined. It has seen a drop in drug related deaths and drug use.
Vintners Associations: STFU you plebs and drink your pints.
What colour is the sky again?
Drugs r bad mmmkay?
But working yourself to the bone, never seeing your family, just to pay a mortgage and then die….this is the way
If only weed was never made illegal. Then we woulddnt have to put up with people who think they’re absolute madlads for smoking it and weed culture wouldn’t have been a thing.
Also (on a serious note) the whole war on drugs style punitive laws, where drug users get lumped in with the criminals that traffic the drugs and sell them, backfire spectacularly.
Who’d have thought that punishing someone who’s being abused or engaging in self destructive behavior would only make it harder for them to stop their life from getting worse.
Nice to see something a bit more progressive from a FF politician.
I don’t think it’s accidental
If it all goes well in Germany with the decriminalisation plans the conversation will eventually go economic. We’ll see it soon enough I’d say, next government. Especially if it’s Sinn Fein
I got caught with a teensy bit of cocaine and it looks like I’ll henceforth be known as a criminal – a danger to society !
Of course they are… we have known this for DECADES! Why is the Irish Government continuing down the path of the failed war on drugs? Grow a fucking brain and legalize and regulate.
