  1. this implies that less women attend the museum cause they need to lure in women with better prices, thus we wen are more cultured and we won, thats just as good as it gets

    /s

  3. For the people who don‘t understand german:

In Geneva, they want to reduce all prices in public facilities for women by 20%. Their argument is that this is necessary because of the pay gap.

  4. oh no…. again…. wasn’t there somewhere on earth a pub or cafe where women had to pay less than men?

and now after a year its closed 😉

    so… no good idea imho

  5. I am a fan of paying women the same wage as men, and charging them the same fees for things like entrance tickets to museums. The focus should be on the former, and then the latter is not an issue.

  6. As a means of drawing attention to the gender pay gap, it’s a functional piece of marketing.

As a solution, to anything, it’s bullshit.

  7. How to impose a „social experiment“ then lose possible visitors/customers and then going to the Canton and asking for more subsidies.

And who pays for shit like this?

  8. It is a stunt to raise the issue. It doesn’t solve anything by itself, but leads to hopefully good talks.

Yes it’s unfair. If you’re complaining that it’s unfair to the men, you missed the points.

  9. So does that mean that tickets will just get more expensive for men?

Why not just lower prices for men and women with low income?

My gf has a cooler job and earns a bit more than I do and I don’t mind. We both earn enough to not have to worry about money.

I’d rather want all people to have a living wage and not have to worry, but apparently that doesn’t seem to be an option for some.

  10. Open sexism as “recompense” for the wagegap fallacy.

Sucks that its starting to happen in switzerland too. We were doing so well, ignoring that woke bs.

  11. The most sexist things in Switzerland are that only men are obliged to do military service and that women can retire earlier. Both are things that could EASILY be solved by law. I want the same wage for men and women too but this is a very complex problem which can‘t be solved easily. Let‘s start with the easily fixable things.

  12. Bad cuz it really makes the conversation about gender equality much more difficult. I don’t want cheaper museum entries, I want equality.

  13. What public institutions are included in the bunch where women should pay less?
It’s NOT a compensation for less wage, nobody spends 20% of their wage on museums. It’s a simbolic act to show what a lot of women are facing everyday at their jobs and to hopefully start a sinful discussion on how to fix the situation in the society and not in the museum.

  14. This just screams „ women can‘t hold their own against men and need to be helped“, quite insulting to women really, completely wrong approach.

  15. What is the problem? For only 65 CHF you can change your gender to woman and get all the advantages and benefits.
