  1. Do I get money back on my taxsaver ticket so? 25 odd quid a week for the bus and runs til July when its up for renewal.

  2. “Combined with a €1 billion cost of living measures in the budget, today’s announcement will bring the total package to €1.4-€1.5 million, Mr Varadkar said.”

    I assume that’s a typo?

  3. Doesn’t help most people in the long run.

A transport fares cut is good, but the fuel rebate is a one time thing – what happens with the next heating bill?

We need a tax cut. SF and labour are right on this one, something I don’t say very often.

  4. Bet they would have cut the tax on petrol if those miserable Green cunts weren’t in there.

Cutting public transport fares because the price of petrol and diesel has gone through the roof is the snidest fuck you ever.

Those pricks make people want to burn down forests.

  5. Are they going to do anything about the cost of food or housing? Or any long term solutions for rising home heating costs?

  6. How will the €200 be given out? As a credit on the account? They also say its a fuel rebate so assuming it’s on gas / oil and not electricity?

  7. Problem I see with the 200 fuel is a lot of people are on a level pay direct debit so while they will he credited this amount the energy providers won’t stop them direct debits so will onlynrealy beifit when they go to change providers

  8. Can someone explain to me in dumb dumb terms how I will see any of this money? New house bought last month so anything is welcome

  9. What about a cut to petrol and diesel prices too for those of us that need to drive? They’ve been going up for years and funding a car is one of the biggest expenses of households with cars.

  10. What about the 60e a week on diesel I have to use to go to work in rural Ireland! Transport fare my fucking hole.

…And I’m aware that’s a small amount compared to some.

  11. We are just gonna do the same thing as England 200 now, 50 increase in yearly bill. It sure as hell ain’t free money even if it will alleviate a small bit of stress temporarily

  12. They _could_ give people a 100% transport fare cut, by mandating that employers allow WFH where practical…

  13. Could we not abolish USC ? Have we not been paying that long enough now. Could be the first step in helping families with rising living costs

  14. I’m sure the few areas where public transport is a feasible option will be mildly pleased with a 20% reduction in something 50% more expensive than it should be.

  15. Public transport workers who are also feeling the squeeze will get screwed by this. There goes any hope of a pay rise.
